INGREDIENT OVERVIEW
Lactic Acid 80% Solution
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) used in cosmetic formulations for pH adjustment, exfoliation, and skin renewal.
It is commonly used in serums, toners, creams, and exfoliating treatments where controlled resurfacing and improved skin texture are desired. In lower concentrations, it is used to adjust pH and support formulation stability.
In formulation, lactic acid helps refine skin texture and improve product performance while contributing to a smoother, more even skin appearance.
Our grade is supplied as a cosmetic-grade liquid with controlled assay and low impurity profile, supporting consistent formulation performance.
QUALITY & SOURCING
- High assay (80.75%) for reliable performance
- Very low loss on drying (0.12%) for stability
- Low ash (0.25%) indicating purity

Strongly acidic. Final formulation pH must be adjusted and controlled.
Formulation examples
Toner
- Lactic acid: 1–3%
- Humectants
- Water phase
Exfoliating serum
- Lactic acid: 5–10%
- Humectants + soothing agents
Cream
- Lactic acid: 1–3%

- dryness → add humectants
- incompatibility → review actives
COMPARISON & ALTERNATIVES
- Citric acid → pH adjustment only
- Glycolic acid → stronger exfoliation
- Mandelic acid → gentler exfoliation
SENSORY PROFILE
Lactic acid contributes a smooth skin feel over time through exfoliation. At higher levels, it may cause tingling depending on concentration and formulation.
