Before you begin

This formulation is designed as a starting point.

Small adjustments to ingredient levels will influence texture, absorption, and overall skin feel. Work within recommended usage ranges and adjust gradually.  

Check ingredient compatibility, pH, and preservation once the full system is assembled.

Formulation approach

  • Start with a water base and include low-tack humectants for a clean finish.
  • Keep the system low viscosity to ensure sprayability.
  • Avoid ingredients that may clog the spray mechanism.
  • Ensure full solubility of all ingredients within the water phase.
  • Finalise preservation and pH to maintain stability over time.

Example formulation

Water (qs to 100%)
Propanediol 1,3 - 3–4%
Betaine - 1–2%
Panthenol - 1–2%
Ectoin - 0.2–0.3%
Magnesium Chloride - 0.3–0.5% (optional)
Allantoin - 0.2%
Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol - 0.8–1.0%

Notes

Avoid thickening systems to maintain spray performance. Keep humectants balanced to prevent tackiness.
