Behaviour in formulations

Xanthan gum hydrates in water to form a gel structure that increases viscosity and stabilises systems.

  • Pre-disperse in glycerin or propanediol to prevent clumping, then add to water phase with mixing.

Use level considerations

Use Rate (Min): 0.1
Use Rate (Max): 0.5

  • Leave-on: 0.1–0.5%
  • Rinse-off: 0.2–0.5%
  • Used at low levels due to high efficiency

Starter Use Rate: 0.2–0.3% for most cosmetic formulations

Typically used at 0.1–0.5% depending on desired viscosity.
